This is what distinguishes the towing dolly.
These specialised towing dollies can be used in combination with speclift vehicles to tow an unroadworthy vehicle quickly and safely. The maximum axle load is up to 1950 kg, the maximum technical speed is 90 km/h (please observe the respective country-specific regulations!).
The towing dolly can be dismantled and can therefore be easily stowed in the towing vehicle. Installation on the vehicle is quick and easy.
Once the lifting process is completed, the system automatically engages in drive mode. This special lifting system makes the lifting process considerably safer and requires less effort.
When dismantlled, the towing dolly consists of two axles, two length-adjustable telescopic cross rails, an operating lever and two lashing straps. We offer the corresponding retainers as accessories.
No matter what surface the customer's vehicle needs to be towed on: gravel car parks, grass, or kerbs are no problem for the towing dolly. The air-filled rubber tyres offer high driving comfort and are not hindered by rough terrain.
More safety when towing
The Collins towing dolly is equipped with four well-designed safety mechanisms that ensure maximum safety – both during operation and while towing. A key feature is the stable locking of the wheels, which on one hand allows for different ground clearances and on the other hand prevents the wheels from folding in.
This combination of well-designed operation and safety mechanisms makes the dolly not only handy but also particularly safe for everyone involved.
- Safety unit
The safety unit makes the towing dolly safe and flexible in use. The interlocking mechanism of the unit automatically engages in four locking positions from the ground to the travelling position when lifting. Once the swing axle is engaged in one of the notches, the control lever can be released. This increases safety, for example, if the control lever cannot be turned completely to the driving position in one go.
Lifting lowered vehicles is usually no problem either. If the operating lever is used to alternately raise the left or right pendulum axle by one locking position at a time, the lowered vehicle can be brought into the driving position bit by bit without damaging the vehicle underbody.
- Securing and opening lever
The safety lever serves as a safety mechanism when the vehicle is ready to drive. It prevents the safety interlock from opening during the journey. The safety and release lever also allows the axle to be lowered without an operating lever.
- Telescopic cross rails
The telescopic cross rails can be extended on both sides to adapt them to the width of the vehicle. Thanks to the welded-on support surfaces, vehicles with wheels turned in can also be lifted. The centre section of the telescopic cross rail has a material pretension to reduce ‘sagging’ when loaded. Practical: The aluminium design makes telescopic bars extremely lightweight.

Construction of the towing dolly by Collins

1. Position telescopic cross rails
In the first step, the telescopic cross rails are adjusted to the correct length and placed on the wheels.

2. Setting the axles
The two telescopic cross rails are inserted into the axle on the left and right.

3. Lifting with pry bar
The vehicle is lifted via the axle lifting system using the pry bar.

4. Securing the vehicle
As the final step, the car is secured with safety tie-down straps over the wheel on the dolly.
