Clean surfaces contaminated by oil and other chemicals quickly and safely with our high-quality absorbent granules. The finely grained mineral granulate of our ProLux oil binders has a high capacity to absorb liquids. Our absorbent granules are suitable for oil, waste oil, grease, lubricant, as well as for some soapsuds, paint and solvents, etc. ProLux granular oil absorber type III R is officially approved in Germany as an oil binder for use on public roads and comes in a 20 kg bag. 1 kg of absorbent material for oil spills absorbs approx. 1 litre of oil or 1 litre of other liquids.
Where are absorbent granules used?
Oil cleaners are often used for cleaning up spilt liquids after road traffic incidents or breakdowns. These liquids are usually engine or hydraulic oil, but spills can also involve liquids such as coolant, etc. Granular oil absorbers are therefore frequently used by fire and recovery services. Our absorbent granules are usually used to clean the carriageway. Removing the oil spill ensures that the road is safe for drivers. Oil absorbent granules are also used in industries such as construction or municipal road maintenance, where machinery or vehicles may leave oil residues in case of a malfunction. In these situations, our oil absorbent granules provide a quick and effective solution.
Oil cleaners used by fire departments and rescue services
Cleaning up spilled oil or other liquids is one of the challenges faced by fire and rescue services. Rapid use of our approved absorbent granules allows the fire service to avert the risk of environmental damage or road accidents caused by slippery surfaces.
Tips for correct use and disposal of oil cleaners
Our absorbent material for oil spills is designed to be scattered over the affected surface. After they have been given a short time to absorb the spill, they can be swept with a broom, so that they are thoroughly mixed with the oil that needs to be cleaned up. As a result, the granular oil absorber absorbs the liquid. The contaminated absorbent granules can then be carefully swept together. It might be necessary to repeat the process. The contaminated absorbent granules must then be stored in a separate, labelled container until they can be disposed of. Contaminated absorbent granules must be disposed of at an approved collection point. It is important to note that the oil cleaner takes on the properties of the substance it absorbs. Appropriate fire safety measures must be kept in mind when transporting the absorbent granules, especially in the case of flammable substances such as solvents.
Which types of oil cleaners are available?
Oil binders are made of fine or coarse granulate. Various binders made of mineral or synthetic substances form the material basis. They absorb the oil or other chemicals and bind it to the absorbent granules. Liquid oil binders are mainly used to clean contaminated surfaces and are based on cleaning detergents. Liquid oil binders are not suitable for absorbing or removing larger quantities of liquids.
Oil-absorbent granules
Absorbent material for oil spills made of finely grained granulate are the means of choice for removing spilled liquids. Our granular oil absorbers consist of small, fine grains. Compared with the powder version, granules offer the advantage that they cannot be blown away by strong winds, which would render them ineffective. They are mostly used to absorb all types of oil, but also other liquid chemicals, such as solvents or acids.
Liquid oil binders for removing spills
Liquid oil binders are used, e.g., for cleaning all kinds of surfaces that have been affected by spilled oil. Our Oil Clean liquid oil cleaner, with environmentally friendly cleaning detergents, thoroughly removes the remains of leaks that are often left behind after the first clean-up with absorbent granules. After this final clean, the road surface is then safe to drive on.
