Finding the right fluid extractor pump for your needs
An extraction pump is a useful tool, and is absolutely essential in car repair workshops, while portable extraction pumps are used by breakdown services. Before purchasing these devices, it is important to consider the following questions:
- What will the pump mainly be used for?
- How often will it be needed?
- What volumes of fluid are expected?
- What kinds of liquid will the pump be used for (petrol, diesel, oil, water, etc.)?
- Will the pump be used for different types of liquid?
For occasional extraction, a manual hand pump is the most economical choice. Hand pumps can be used to extract oil or fuels, such as diesel and petrol, or water, as well as other liquids. However, hand pumps or siphon pumps are only suitable for small to medium volumes of fluid. They can also be used for extracting highly flammable substances. For regular use or when dealing with larger volumes of liquid, an electric or pneumatic extraction pump is recommended. Mobile electric or pneumatic fluid suction pumps and siphon pumps are far more effective and durable.
Manual petrol extraction pump

To start it up, simply connect the 12V pump to a 12-volt car battery or another battery, and the fluid extractor pump is ready for use. To remove petrol from a tank, manual or pneumatic pumps can and should be used. This is because, due to its low flash point, any sparks generated by the motor can cause petrol to ignite when electric extraction pumps are used. This risk can be avoided by using manual extraction pumps or siphon pumps, or pneumatically operated petrol pumps.
