Advantages of heavy duty tow bars compared to tow ropes

The major advantage of towing a truck with a tow pole rather than a tow rope is that it is safer! Compared with a tow rope, towing with a tow bar significantly reduces the risk of rear-end collisions. If you have ever been behind the wheel of truck being towed, you will know how difficult it is to stay in line with the towing vehicle and to maintain the correct distance. The rigid connection provided by the truck tow bar makes the entire towing process easier.

Which is the right heavy duty tow bar for you?

Firstly, you need to think about what you want to buy a tow bar for. If you work in towing and recovery, you will definitely need a tow pole with the highest possible breaking load. If, for example, you are a building contractor with a large fleet with different vehicles, it would be useful to have the option of using different towing eyes. Or perhaps you have a depot where you regularly need to shunt buses. Then a telescopic tow bar would be beneficial.

Our Vario model, for example, has an interchangeable 50 mm screw-in towing eye for heavy-duty hitches for different vehicles. The Tele model, by contrast, can be extended from 2500 mm to 3100 mm, for easy shunting of buses and vehicles with low tow hitches. The longer length creates a less acute angle, so you can also work with a Rockinger hitch. All our truck towbars can be supplied in a galvanised design so they are corrosion resistant and do not have to be painted. For the toughest jobs, our range also includes a heavy duty truck tow bar with a breaking load of up to 48 t, available on request. Our range is completed by different towing eye diameters that cover all common hitches such as Rockinger, NATO and BNA.
