Halogen work lamps - The classics among the work lights

The classic shapes of halogen headlamps range from square to oval and round. They can be equipped, for example, with a handle and a switch mounted on a magnetic base or a grille to protect the diffusing lenses. The most commonly used halogen bulb in the worklight area is the H3 bulb. This is offered in 12 volts with 55 watts, alternatively in 24 volts with 70 watts. Due to these different voltage versions, multi-voltage use is not possible, which makes it difficult to use in vehicles with different on-board voltages. A new version is the H9 bulb which is used at Hella. Compared to the H3 bulb, this has an approx. 45 % higher luminous flux, which ensures that the H9 bulb produces 1.5 times more light output. H9 bulbs are only available in 12 volts.

    Applications of Halogen Work Lights

Halogen work lights are a reliable addition to standard vehicle lighting and are suitable for a wide range of applications. They provide optimal illumination of the site, whether in front of, at the side of, or behind the vehicle. In most cases, halogen work lamps are permanently mounted to the vehicle. You will often find them in the recovery sector, for example during accident, breakdown, or towing operations. They are also a common sight on construction sites. Construction vehicles such as excavators, bulldozers, and other heavy machinery rely on clear visibility at night. In industrial environments, forklifts and other warehouse equipment are frequently fitted with halogen work lights. Agriculture is another important field where halogen work lamps are indispensable. Tractors, harvesters, and other farming machinery simply cannot do without them. The same applies to municipal vehicles – snow ploughs or Unimogs, for instance, are usually equipped with integrated work lamps. Last but not least, halogen work lights are also popular in the off-road sector, where Jeeps or SUVs use them to extend visibility during demanding operations.

In addition to permanently mounted models, there are also mobile halogen work lamps. These portable lights are powered via a cable and plug through the vehicle’s cigarette lighter socket. Halogen work lamps with H3 bulbs are particularly popular with roadside assistance services, forestry operations, and the police. Thanks to their magnetic base, these lamps can be quickly and securely attached to the vehicle. The adjustable lamp housing makes it easy to direct the light exactly where it is needed.

Areas of application for halogen worklights

Nevertheless, the halogen workl ight is still a good choice today because of its low cost, especially for areas where the work lamp is not in continuous use. The fields of application range from municipal vehicles, tractors, trucks, industrial trucks to towing vehicles. Work lights are used to illuminate a work surface in front of, to the side or behind the vehicle.

Guidelines for use: Use on public roads "while driving" is not permitted. As a general rule, work lamps may only be switched on if no road users can be blinded.

Bright Light with Halogen Work Lights – No Problem

Our halogen work lamps provide bright and eye-friendly light. The light colour is warm and soft, helping to avoid harsh contrasts. This makes it less tiring for the eyes compared to the cooler blue-white light typical of LEDs. Thanks to the wide reflector inside the lamp, the light output is very uniform. Combined with the 360-degree radiation of the halogen H3 bulb, there are no irregular or disturbing shadows in the illuminated area. With a 24-volt H3 bulb, the luminous flux reaches 1700 lm. If you need significantly higher lumen output, you will find our particularly powerful LED work lights available in many different shapes and versions.
