Technical features and applications of a 24V electric winch

With an electric winch, the winch drum is driven by an electric motor. The motor electrically drives the winch drum with the cable via a reduction planetary gearbox or worm gear up to the specified traction force thereby allowing light or heavy loads to be moved. When the motor is switched off under load, a built-in mechanical brake ensures that the winch holds the load. When installing an electric winch, care must be taken to ensure that the intended mounting site can withstand the maximum traction force of the winch. The winch rope can be a steel winch cable or a high-strength synthetic winch rope. The load capacity of the rope must be adapted to the pulling capacity of the winch.

24 volt winches are used for many different applications. Our 24 volt electric winches are mainly used to pull loads horizontally. Their robust design is guaranteed thanks to the housing and hardened gears made from high-strength steel. The winches pull cars or other vehicles onto tow trucks or trailers for further transport. Boats can also be pulled onto trailers. In the forestry sector, electric winches are needed to move felled trees. Our electric winches are even used by fire brigades and rescue services at accident sites and when providing disaster relief. When off-roading, stranded quad bikes can use a winch to pull themselves or other vehicles free. It is also possible to lift loads using a winch; however, a different type of winch is required. Please ask if you are interested in our lifting winches.

24V truck winch

Due to the higher operating voltage, 24V electric winches are more powerful than 12V winches. We can provide 24V recovery winches with a traction force of up to 6,800kg. When recovering heavy vehicles, each extra kg of pulling capacity is welcome. Thanks to the robust structure of tow trucks, electric winches with a high pulling capacity can be mounted safely and securely.

Key advantages of a 24 volt winch compared to a 12 volt model

A winch with a 24 volt motor only has to draw half the current compared to a 12V winch for the same performance. High current consumption heats up the motor relatively quickly. A hot winch motor must be allowed to cool down before the next use to avoid overheating and damaging the winch motor. Thanks to the reduced current consumption, a 24V winch motor doesn't heat up as quickly and is therefore ready to be used again. This also means that less cooling time needs to be factored in between uses. Some 24V electric winches also have a significantly higher load capacity than the 12V models.
