Applications for warning light bars
Our lightbars are used in many different situations. The use and the colour of lightbars and beacon lights is regulated in § 52 of the StVZO (German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Amber warning light bars may be used by breakdown recovery services and towing services. Municipal emergency vehicles, road construction trucks, abnormal load escort vehicles and exceptionally large and heavy vehicles also use amber lightbars. Emergency light bars with a blue light may only be fitted on emergency vehicles. This includes vehicles belonging to the police, the fire brigade, the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) and ambulances.
Emergency light bars for the fire service
Fire service vehicles exclusively use emergency light bars in the colour blue. Together with the distinctive warning siren, their vehicles have right of way in order to get to the scene quickly. The use of LED lightbars is becoming increasingly common on firefighting vehicles. This is mainly due to the reliability and low power consumption of the LEDs used in our LED lightbars.
Lightbars for recovery & towing services
Breakdown recovery services and towing services tend to use our amber LED warning light bars. Our customers are able to find the perfect fit for their individual vehicles thanks to the large choice of widths and lengths, lenses, and additional technical features that we offer. For example, HGV lightbars can be fitted with a repeater light for the vehicle’s rear lighting. Another option is an LED warning light bar with built-in LED work light that can be used to illuminate a work site.
Differences and types of light bars
Our warning light bars are currently available in two different technologies. Firstly, lightbars with rotators and halogen bulbs as illuminants. The main advantage of this type of lightbar is the low price. Apart from the price, the latest range of ProLux LED lightbars with LED modules offer only advantages over rotator technology. LED warning light bars impress with their low power consumption and extremely long-lasting LED modules. Our LED lightbars can operate on 12V or 24V. LEDs are vibration resistant and are not affected by temperature fluctuations. With an LED warning light bar there is no mechanical wear or replaceable bulb. All our lightbars are made from high-quality materials and have been tried and tested. Virtually all our lightbars meet the ECE Regulation ECE R10. In contrast to LED beacon lights, LED lightbars are always fitted with several LED modules.
Choosing the right warning light bar
It is important to consider the following points before purchasing a warning light bar for an HGV or car:
- LED lightbar or halogen lightbar? (Note: check which voltage you require when buying a halogen lightbar)
- What size lightbar do you want? The lightbar should not exceed the width of the vehicle.
- Design / Extra features: Two or four flash modules? With or without a white centre section (your company name can be written in the centre section, for example)? With built-in work lights?
- Mounting options – directly on the roof or on roof bars?
